Walking Gators Return from the Big Apple

Walking Gators is a campus walking program organized by the Healthy Gators 2010 coalition with six routes located throughout campus. Each route is approximately 20 minutes long and meets every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the spring and fall semesters.

If you are interested in walking with us, check the route maps below for starting times and locations. No registration is required, just show up and look for a route leader in an orange Healthy Gators 2010 T-shirt!

Our Virtual Trip Kicked Off on All Campus Routes on Sept. 29
In spring 2009, Walking Gators’ participants collectively walked more than 2,400 miles by going on a virtual trip from Gainesville to New York City.

Between Sept. 29 and Dec. 14, participants will return to the Swamp by virtually traveling from New York City to Richmond, VA and Charlotte, NC. Parrticipants plan to “walk” more than 1,300 miles and take the trip’s total mileage since January to approximately 3,700. See the virtual trip details here.

Trip Update: As of Monday, Nov. 9, the Walking Gators have collectively walked 858 miles. Only 275 more to go to reach their final destination of Gainesville by Dec. 14.
